USFS: Trout Creek Campground

US Forest Service campground managed by Linn County

Location: 19 miles east of Sweet Home


Camping: May 4th - September 30, 2012

Description: 1200-foot elevation. 23 campsites on the South Santiam River.

Swimming in the river is allowed. Across the road is a trailhead for a 3.3 (one way) mile trail to Rooster Rock. Rooster Rock is a stone pinnacle in the Menagerie Wilderness popular among sports climbers (rated 5.4). Nearby pinnacles are rated up to 5.9.

Rates & Reservations: $15 camping + $5 each additional vehicle
Tent, auto, or RV site
Maximum trailer length: 24 feet for 16 sites; 8 sites can accommodate RV's up to 32 feet
23 Camp sites, 4 of which are smaller, better for tents

19 miles east of Sweet Home. From Sweet Home, follow Hwy 20 east for 19 miles to Trout Creek Campground.

Linn County Parks and Recreation Department, as a partner with the Willamette National Forest, operates campgrounds in the Sweet Home Ranger District through a Special Use permit from the USDA Forest Service, an equal opportunity provider and employer.
